Judging Rubric
2019 Science Fair Notebook

When choosing a project for the science fair, please remember to choose a testable question.  A testable question is one that can be answered by an experiment, with measurable results.  It is not a survey ("Which ice cream flavor do you like best?")  or a model, such a volcano or the solar system.  The following are websites and documents  that have interesting science fair projects involving testable questions:

Testable Questions for Science Fair
Science Buddies
20 Science Fair Projects that will Wow the Crowd!

Science Fair Projects
Super Science Fair Projects
Science Fair Adventures
Free Science Fair Projects

Please remember that your experiment needs to be completed within 5 weeks, so choose carefully.  No live animals may be used or brought to school.  You cannot use people in your experiment without permission of your teacher, and then only to test physical movement or responses (no food experiments on your friends!)

Showboards and reasonable materials will be provided by the school.  Please contact Mrs. Laff with any questions.

Have fun!
Mrs. Laff

Math Olympiad  and Noetic Math Contests 2018-2019

The Math Olympiad Team is open to all interested students.  Math Olympiad contests are held at school on these dates (or next available school day):

November 13, 2108
December 11, 2018
January 15, 2019
February 12, 2019
March 5, 2019

The contests are held at the same time all over the world, and allow students to test their critical-thinking skills.  Math Olympiad problems use the four basic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) in solving real-world problems.  Mrs. Laff provides practice problems for students who wish to participate.  Please see Mrs. Laff to join!

Destination Imagination Links!

Gust Destination Imagination Club Links to the challenge requirements can be found here!  We will use a Google Classroom to keep track of our work on these challenges.
